Overview
-

It is June 1815 and an Anglo-led Allied army under the Duke of Wellington’s command and Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher is set to face Napoleon Boneparte near Waterloo in present-day Belgium.

What happens next is well known to any student of history: the two armies of the Seventh Coalition defeated Bonaparte in a battle that resulted in the end of his reign and of the First French Empire.

But the outcome could have been very different, as Peter Tsouras demonstrates in this thought-provoking and highly readable alternate history of the fateful battle.

By introducing minor – but realistic – adjustments, Tsouras presents a scenario in which the course of the battle runs quite differently, which in turn sets in motion new and unexpected possibilities. Cleverly conceived and expertly executed, this is alternate history at its best.

REVIEWS
-

"I recommend this book to those who enjoy reading or wargaming alternative history in general and, more particularly, to those who enjoy doing so all the more when it's focused on the Napoleonic era"

- Napoleonic Wargamer (Facebook)

"'Cleverly conceived and expertly executed, this is alternate history at its best."

- Goodreads.com

"An interesting read and definitely inspiration for some tabletop skirmishes, after all wargaming is all about alternate history."

- Wargames Illustrated

"Napoleon Victorious is a fantastic read, never dry or boring, driven by Tsouras’ detailed knowledge of the Waterloo campaign and the personalities on all sides of the conflict. I read it in a couple of days – a personal record for a book in the counter-factual sphere of the genre, and can heartily recommend it."

- Sea Lion Press

"This alternative history retells the Campaign of Waterloo with great verve, staying close to many of the real events in many respects, and tweaking things in a (mostly) very believable manner… I would unhesitatingly recommend it."

- A Question Of Scale

"As an actual soldier (a lieutenant-colonel no less), Peter has an inbuilt feel for the world of war. In this book a very different outcome for the Battle of Waterloo is proven possible and it is well worth a read."
