ANDREW BOND is John Quilliam’s four times great nephew by marriage. After reading rowing and engineering at Cambridge and a brief interlude as a teacher, he spent 40 years as a technical journalist, writing for and editing a succession of engineering periodicals. Since retirement he has divided his time between researching John Quilliam’s career and, with his wife Marian, sailing their traditional Norfolk Broads river cruiser.
